1. Joe Paterno announced today that he is going to retire after the end of the season. He plains on coaching the rest on the season and is proud of his kids. He wanted to do more but he didnt want it to end the way it did. "This is a tragedy," Paterno said. "It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more."

2. Mississippi voters Tuesday defeated a ballot initiative that would've declared life begins at fertilization, a proposal that supporters sought in the Bible Belt state as a way to prompt a legal challenge to abortion rights nationwide.
